VIA POLITICO – Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump seem ready to put their feud from the Republican presidential primary aside — for real this time.
The two Florida Republicans met in Miami Sunday morning to talk about how they could work together during the general election, according to half a dozen people familiar with the meeting who were granted anonymity to speak freely.
The meeting was first reported by the Washington Post.
The get-together was arranged by Florida real-estate broker Steve Witkoff, several people confirmed to POLITICO. A Trump campaign official said it was a “good meeting set at the request of Gov. DeSantis.”
Three DeSantis donors texted POLITICO to say that they thought the move for the two men to make peace was “smart.” (read more)
DeSantis flew too close to the sun, his wings melted and he came crashing back to earth. Maybe he’s learned a little something about hubris.
The “same state” mantra is dumb. Believe it or not, people MOVE. Ask anyone in the service or an IBMer back in the 60s and 70s. Trump has many properties he could move to.
I do dislike Trump tearing his allies to shreds and then having dinner with them.

When he first publicly acknowledged his girlfriend in September, he joked to the Post about why he didn’t choose to bring her with him on the campaign trail.

DeSantis fizzled on the campaign trail during the early GOP contests. His strength is that he’s a policy wonk. But, this was his weakness on the presidential stage. He’d make a great nominee for Attorney General. I’m hoping Trump names Pompeo or Abbot as Vice President, and brings in a great team.
