Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said on this week’s broadcast on “Fox News Sunday” that Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) aid package that included for Ukraine would not have passed the House without help from former President Donald Trump.
Graham said, “The Ukrainian military, with our help, has killed about 50% of the combat power of the Russians. This is the year of more. They’re going to have more weapons, but we also want them to have new weapons, ATACMS to knock the bride down between Crimea and Russia. They are going to have F-16s. So, this idea give up on Ukraine makes the world safer, if you pull the plug on Ukraine cause you don’t have enough capability. There goes Taiwan.”
He continued, “Ukrainians are fighting like tigers This aid package has a loan component it. This would not have passed without Donald Trump. I want to thank the House speaker and Hakeem Jeffries woking together in a bipartisan fashion to give weapons to Ukraine to fight a fight that matters to us. President Trump has created a loan component to this package that gives us leverage down the road.”

I read that Trump was getting security briefings now. Johnson met with Trump and they decided to go ahead with the bill. A couple of curious things; a man who is not in government has enormous power over the government officials and they both apparently decided probably based on those briefings that this was an important thing to do. That, despite Trump not being in favor of it before.
Our present government has not made any attempt to explain why they are doing what they’re doing. Of course, the problem may be that Biden is simply not a messenger anyone will take seriously. Neither is vice president Giggler. We have the most unserious, unbelievable Administration in the nation’s history. I pity serious world leaders with serious problems to address who have to meet with them and try to take them seriously. I’ve had family and friends in Biden’s condition, and they can’t safely make dinner without risk of fire.
I would bet Trump told Johnson to include billions for border security in it.

But WW2 Lend Lease for the Russians was far larger than what is being sent to Ukraine. On average, the US sent about 3% of its annual economic output to Russia every single year of the war. That 3% is what we’re spending on defense today. In WW2, we sent that to the Russians. Now, that 3% is a fraction of the annual 40% spent on WW2, but it was still a substantial number.
