In the midst of all its other woes, the Islamic Republic of Iran has just suffered the worst economic collapse of its existence: the Iranian rial has lost 30% of its value overnight.

Let’s remember that in 1978, just before the Shah’s regime fell, the dollar was worth 71 rials. As of April 8, one dollar is worth 660,000 rials.

Iran has the 2nd largest natural gas reserves in the world, behind the big kahuna, Russia.
Nat gas value is measured in joules. Currency that one prints / creates from nothingness is rather less important than things God created, joules.

Everything that they import is directly or indirectly paid for in rials.
Of course many don’t take rials, leaving Iran to use the rial to buy other currencies for the purchases.
They are paid for their nat gas in whatever currency that they decide to accept-which is most likely any hard currency on earth.
