A massive depression/default is very much in the cards.

They would love to pass the baton to Trump and let him be at the helm when we hit the rocks. He can do us a lot of good, but it’s a longshot that he could before a crash.

They might think it’s unavoidable and want to turn him into Herbert Hoover.

They may be underestimating Trump. He's already advocating the death penalty for pushing narcotics, as well as mass deportations. He should be very clear during the election cycle that he's going to do these things. He should also be talking about reigning in the media - maybe through removing government funding through advertising and other "projects".

He might also mention that the damage already done is so severe that some damage may very well be permanent, and that America may need to "grow out of it over time".
