California has failed to adequately monitor the outcomes of its vast spending on homelessness programs, according to a state audit released Tuesday

A new report from the California State Auditor's Office found that a state council created to oversee the implementation of homelessness programs has not consistently tracked spending or the outcomes of those programs.

California has spent $20 billion over the past five years dedicated to the state's homelessness crisis, including funneling money toward supporting shelters and subsidizing rent. Still, homelessness grew 6% in 2023 from the year prior, to more than 180,000 people, according to federal "point in time" data. Since 2013, homelessness has grown in California by 53%.

How much of the money ACTUALLY WENT to the problem and how much ended up the pockets of bureaucrats!! If these asshats actually gave a shit about homelessness they would remove the regulations for home building in CA. to make homes more affordable a stinking studio apt here is damn near 3,000 a month utterly ridiculous!!!

The money that doesn’t get into politicians’ pockets goes to the Homeless-Industrial-Complex whose only desire in life is to get MORE homeless so they can grow their businesses.

We need to build more low-income housing for the homeless. Just not here.

Monitoring where government money goes and the effectiveness of programs is racist!

Typical democrat scam; create a problem, fund a government fix, loot the pool of money and when the problem persists, increase the funding and loot it to. State governments and especially the DC fed operates right out of the mafia’s playbook.

This is what happens when people think that intent is more important than results.

Intent is one thing, but lack of effectiveness shows government failed at all levels. I could offer solutions that would work, but Democrats won't implement them.

Stop supporting drug habits of homeless. Don't supply needles or drugs. Jail the homeless if caught possessing drugs.
Arrest them for vagrancy near private property and jail them. Remove them from public property for trespass after hours, and jail them.
Sweep and clean the streets, sidewalks and public areas on a regular basis. If homeless are in the way, jail them and discard their belongings. (Vehicles are towed away for street cleaning, so why not homeless people.)

Of course implementing these procedures requires more jails. So build them in rural areas and transport the miscreants there. What they do after release is up to them, not the taxpayers problem.

Follow the money. Most of it goes to corrupt non-profits. The poor are still poor and with the demise of manufacturing in this country, they have lost the means to escape dire poverty.
