Yes, the elderly & disabled, and boys in their early teens want to keep trying to dodge conscription while they grieve for other males among their family and friends seized off the street in broad daylight, given a weapon and very little ammo, and sent to the front lines unprotected from air assault. They want to fight until the last citizen is dead, now that everyone who could escape to be refugees in other nations has gone, and the infrastructure to support life has been flattened, leaving nothign to fight for, but the god of NATO.
A middle-aged couple from Ukraine moved into my neighborhood. She has a translator on her phone, so we talk occasionally. Very nice people, actually. He came over and shoveled snow for me. And she brought me an advent calendar with cat treats for every day. (My cat hates them, but oh well.). They still have a daughter in Ukraine and a cat.
They’ve been out of town for a few weeks, hope they haven’t gone back to visit the Uke hamburger grinder.
