As avian influenza (bird flu) continues to spread among wild birds in the European Union, officials are warning of the potential for a future human pandemic. On Wednesday, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) issued an alert noting that "transmission between bird and mammal species has been observed, particularly in fur animal farms, where outbreaks have been reported."

"These viruses continue to evolve globally, and with the migration of wild birds, new strains carrying potential mutations for mammalian adaptation could be selected," the alert stated.
"If avian A (H5N1) influenza viruses acquire the ability to spread efficiently among humans, large‐scale transmission could occur due to the lack of immune defenses against H5 viruses in humans."
I had the H1N1 Avian flu last time around. I puked for 3 days and it was a bitch. Two people I knew got heart attacks from the H1N1 because it was such a system stressor.
But, I did not know anyone who died.

The last time some type of avian disease was supposed to carry off the world, especially those in SE Asia, my daughter and I were in Bali. We gone horseback riding along the beach ending with a dinner overlooking the ocean. There were two tourists from Europe along with us. When it came to ordering for dinner, the woman from Europe recoiled at the suggestion of chicken. When it came to me, I said in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) that I would love the chicken. The waiter gave me a questioning look so I then replied, “I like to live dangerously.”
The woman’s boyfriend understood me and cracked up.

I read that, and thought the execution and disposal must have been a form of mass carnage.
