Exactly. That is the motto of all the environmental groups. The come up with pie in the sky plans, the institute them, the results are catastrophic, no one calls them on it and the move on to the next disaster in waiting.
Those dams had been for over a century and the salmon were doing just fine. Now the salmon are dead, other wildlife that depended on those lakes for their existence are dying. Property values have plummeted and all for what, so some eco-freak living in his mother basement can feel good about themselves.
Trout Unlimited is pushing the same insanity in Michigan. I can assure they’ve learned nothing from this fiasco. Because ultimately, it’s not about the fish. It’s why I dropped my membership.
Sierra Club is well known for this. They have come out in support of wind farms in major bird migration flyways, and poo-poo concerns of bird-strikes related to turbines, etc.
It got so bad with them that some local chapters of The Nature Conservancy and other groups who buy land to put in protectorship have ended cooperation with the Sierra Club. Someone (now retired) at the Cornell Ornithology Lab told me that the Sierra Club has lost a lot of cachet in the Lab over their support of wind turbines, etc.
