Karl Marx would be proud: Bernie Sanders has urged taking another step toward the philosopher’s envisioned utopia by proposing to mandate a four-day work week.
In communist society, Marx wrote, workers would be liberated to “hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, raise cattle in the evening, criticize after dinner, just as I have in mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, shepherd, or critic.” Needles to say that’s not how communism turned out.
Yet the belief that work is basically a capitalist imposition that is unnatural and bad for people still holds sway on the left, and Sanders is, accordingly, proposing to move from a 40-hour to a 32-hour work week to make us healthy, wealthy and wise. “It is time to reduce the stress level in our country and allow Americans to enjoy a better quality of life,” the Vermont socialist insists.

No mention of when the worker would be shot for failing to reach impossible production quotas. But then again, I suppose the worker could be shot at any time. No need to schedule it.

At one time, I worked a 4 day work week. 10 hours a day. Gave me three day weekends to spend more money!
I’ve known people who worked a four day week. It definitely works for some people/companies. But I don’t think the government should push it.
Like everything Marxists do, it’s more about control than concern for the working class.

I heard that it wasn’t just because he was lazy, and he was, but that he wouldn’t shut the heck up. Just droned on and on with his Marxist drivel. Even hippies couldn’t stand it.
Vermont is impoverished in many places.
Driving through Vermont makes that pretty apparent.
The scenery cannot be beat, but then again, the democrats can’t control that so can’t ruin it.
It is. Big corporations can afford to do this with their million dollar software programs, but mom and pop business can’t and mom and pop businesses are 70% of all jobs.
