10% flat tax. No deductions.
Corporate and personal income taxes could be reported on a postcard.
Less government corruption. Cut the IRS by 95%
9-9-9. It’s not just for pizza anymore.
I tease, but I sort of agree with you. Just simplify the tax code. The postcard idea. Though I could argue in principle that no wage earner should pay income taxes, as a compromise I think if you make say $70k or less ($140k for a family) you should pay zero income tax. It is human nature to work to provide for your family. This is in our DNA going back to Stone Age cave dwelling hunter gatherers. We always had to work, it’s just changed to where instead of hunting and picking fruits we trade our labor for cash to buy meat and vegetables. We should not be taxed for earning wages that pay for food and shelter. We should not be taxed for necessities and doing what we are naturally inspired to do. And index that number to inflation.
Other economic activity, we can debate whether it can be taxed and how much, but for regular people doing regular work to feed themselves and their clan - it should not be taxed; or at least not taxed below an amount that covers food, shelter, medical care, transportation and other basic human needs. It’s absolutely insidious to tax our human nature.
“10% flat tax. No deductions.”
“10% national sales tax.” Everyone pays something with every purchase. Deductions are not involved until those below a standard income level applies for a refund.
No income tax. Period.
The Founding Fathers correctly opposed it for a reason.
Think of the saving by not having to print up all those tax forms every year.
