Former President Donald Trump weighed in on the abortion debate, which has been a politically fraught subject for Republicans.
Reports claim Trump has discussed having a ban on abortions after 16 weeks of pregnancy with three exceptions: rape, incest and the life of the mother.

I wish Trump would leave it as a state’s right issue.
I wonder how many Trump voters the losing side can peel off by trying to characterize Trump as anything other than pro-life.

I think an upper limit of 16 weeks or similar, plus let states decide on a lower limit and the rape, incest and mothers life aspects would be the right move.
That way states can have no abortion at all. Other states a heartbeat bill. Any state can do what they want with the other aspects but no abortion over 16 weeks or similar mark.
Well, at least this pretty much guarantees Biden will run on partial birth abortion and discussions with the mother if it fails.

I think he’s trying to win places like PA which he won’t. I wish he would not try this tactic. It won’t work. Federalizing the issue destroys the top of the ticket. The commie republican baby killers in this state will not vote for him. 2-3% resulting in a 4-6% real deficit.

Exactly. The compromise is to leave it up to the states. We said for decades that’s what we wanted. We got it with Dobbs. Take the win and leave it alone.
As a pro-lifer, I’d love it if we had the nationwide support for federal fetal protections, but we don’t. It just ain’t happening at this time.
