Haiti police try to retake port after ‘major operation’ in gang leader Cherizier’s stronghold

Haitian police are trying to regain control of the capital’s main port, officials said on Saturday, after they killed several “bandits” while conducting a major operation in the stronghold of gang leader Jimmy “Barbeque” Cherizier.

Special forces, soldiers and police officers carried out a raid against gangs in Bas-Delmas on Friday evening with the aim of unblocking a road, said Lionel Lazarre of the Haitian police union.

Several “bandits” were killed, he said, without providing more details.

Another operation was underway on Saturday morning as law enforcement officers attempted to regain control of the capital’s main port, where gang members had looted several containers, a source at the port told AFP.

The port has been shut since March 7 because of the violence.

The operation came as attacks continued in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince on Friday in the aftermath of the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

Violence targeted the airport and a top police official’s home, while residents mounted roadblocks in two spots both to impede the criminal gangs and signal their own frustration, an AFP reporter said.

Do, or do not.

There is no try.

Hopefully, the Haitian police will restore order in Port-au-Prince. Then we can resume sending food supplies to Haiti. So Haitians won’t have to flee by boat to the U.S.

There are three solutions to the problem in Haiti.

1. Land special forces on Haiti, kill the bad guys, and install the dictator of our choice. Not a bad idea at all.

2. Do nothing and let Haiti become its own hell hole and refuse to take in any refugees. It has been a hell hole for decades and is just worse now. I prefer this option.

3. Do what Biden wants and whatever this is will be a disaster for Haiti and the United States. Option 3 is the worst option of all.

Most likely option, unfortunately.

The Haiti police should come to Oakland and teach OPD a thing or two.

Leaders will “rise up” when the people cry out for them in Haiti. How long they remain in power is another matter.

I forgot option four. It was originally a French Colony. Tell Macron to solve the problem. Unfortunately, Macron is stupid but not that stupid. He will decline.

A story said the US was considering using Guantanamo to store them.

Oh...something else I recall...Didn’t Colin Powell tell us not to invade Iraq, because if we break it, we bought it, BUT he was leading the charge under Clinton to remove the dictatorship in Haiti?

Funny how Slick Willy in NEVER held accountable for his blunders.

Install a government of, by and for the people. Be sure to give the citizens a SECOND AMENDMENT. Tell them to keep an eye on their elected representatives. You could even give them our Constitution. We’re not using it.

My partner has several clients in Haiti and they tell her that Chérizier (Barbecue) is leading right-wing death squads to kill communists.

Maybe he is Haiti's "Pinochet"? The way he is demonized in the left-wing press lends credence to this.

I believe that it’s possible. But at the same time, it’s Haiti.

One conspiracy theory is that Biden/US Left are encouraging the chaos in Haiti.

After all, they are presently engaged in a plan to flood the USA with 3rd world invaders, and which country has more human detritus ready to depart for US shores than Haiti?
