I guess it isn’t. Every once in a while you hear of a
bunch of seniors dying off during heat waves. Isn’t
that one of the new goals anyway?
The estimates for the deaths during the European heatwave of 2003 range in the tens of thousands, up to almost 70,000 by some estimates.
There was also a huge spike in heat mortality in Europe in the summer of 2022, but I’ll bet most folks didn’t hear about that.
(Of course, that second stat might be a little complicated, but that’s for another thread, eh?)
People are still dying from the heat in Europe.
