LONDON (Reuters) - Britain said on Thursday it had agreed a security package to protect the borders of the Turks and Caicos Islands - a British Overseas Territory - in response to the risk violence in Haiti could spread.
The Turks and Caicos Islands are 200 miles (322 km) from Haiti, where a political and social crisis has led to weeks of escalating violence and heavily armed gangs have tightened their grip on the capital Port-au-Prince
The British Foreign Office said the package was designed to "respond to the risk of gang violence and illegal migration from Haiti spilling over into the wider Caribbean".

Dominican, Turks and Caicos Islands and the Bahamas, don’t want them. But Florida (600 miles to Miami) is supposed to put them on US entitlements? No thanks.
And, of course, ‘Little Potato’ Castreau will see how many Haitians he can import to Montréal, to match, or better, his Gazan imports. (Of course, none of the Arabs are Christians, only mohamedans.) We should expect no Christian Haitians, only ‘voodoo’ Haitians!

While honeymooning on the nearly-non-white island of Eleuthera, Bahamas, we were introduced to a new islander named “Haiti”. He spoke fractured English, but I read later that the Bahamas didn’t want Haitians drifting ashore.
That honeymoon was in 1975.
