First of all, one cannot "refute" one's state of being. This is a misuse of the word "refute," which means: To offer a convincing counterargument against; to disprove [a claim] by logical argumentation.
I think that he might have been better served by saying that they want to REPUDIATE or RECANT their Jewishness.
Secondly: I guess that Rachel Dolezal and Elizabeth Warren et al. were right after all, and that it is possible to change one's race or ethnic origin through a simple act of declaration!
