That pilot was the San Jose's mayor's daughter.
Ummm, she's still his daughter, he's not the mayor...
Maybe the crew ran out of fuel, since there was no fire after the accident.
More blood on Biden’s hands. Say their names.
Shows what little you know. The Army bought a helicopter KNOWING it could never leave CONUS to do any missions. It was a government sop to Airbus.
It’s a poor training platform and it’s only success is freeing up decent platforms for other jobs.
Flying in itself is an unnatural act and inherently dangerous. Adding the requirement that you must be able to take off or land vertically (or hover) significantly compounds the costs ... and the danger.
The whole purpose for any aircraft capable of vertical flight is to fly it into conditions too hazardous for a fixed wing. If you're flying a fixed-wing aircraft, it's a given that need a considerable landing strip, preferably prepared, even more preferably paved. Helicopters almost always are operated closer to the ground than any duly cautious fixed wing pilot would be comfortable with, and can be landed in any cleared area big enough to get into without risk of a rotor strike.
There's an old axiom, "In flying, there's three things that will never do you any good. All the fuel that's on the ground, all the runway that's behind you, and all the air that's above you." Helicopters habitually ignore the last of those three in particular because the only way to justify their expense and inefficiency (compared to fixed wing) is you have an absolute requirement to fly into confined spaces and/or perilously close to the ground.
Military helicopters all have fuel bladders designed to withstand an impact that no human could. One passenger survived so it's a fair bet the fuel bladder is intact.
Excellent points.
It was NEVER in the requirement that it be combat capable. It was NEVER intended to be deployed outside CONUS.
Does it need to be translated into Russian or moron for you to understand?
