A Harvard fellow and DC 'peace activist' has been charged with conspiring to smuggle millions of dollars worth of weaponry to aid a military coup in South Sudan.
Peter Ajak, 40, fled to the U.S. with the help of the American government four years ago after he claimed South Sudan's president wanted him abducted or killed.
He was granted refugee status last year and has been working as a fellow at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
But the former World Bank economist, who now lives in Maryland, is now alleged to have conspired to send Stinger missile systems, grenade launchers and automatic rifles to support a violent uprising back home, according to a federal criminal complaint unsealed in Arizona on Monday.
His co-defendant, Abraham Chol Keech, 44, is a naturalized US citizen from South Sudan who served as a coordinator for opposition groups back home, the complaint says.
He now lives in Utah and had been a social services worker at the state health department since May last year, according to his LinkedIn.
As part of the alleged scheme, the pair agreed to an arms contract worth nearly $4 million and requested a 'fake contract' that said the funds were for things like equipment related to 'human rights, humanitarian, and civil engagement inside South Sudan refugee camps', the complaint said.
In reality, they were in cahoots with opposition military generals aiming to topple the government, it is alleged.
Keech began shopping for weapons to bolster the South Sudanese opposition in September of 2021, and he and Ajak began talks in earnest in February of 2023 with arms dealers who turned out to be federal agents, the charges state.

Having lots of 3rd world types is very helpful to the US deep-state. Besides representing the USA as a polyglot empire, and keeping native Americans demoralized and disoriented, there is a ready pool of 3rd trained “elites” (ahem, Harvard, etc...) who can be used to intervene in their own nations in ways that benefit the US deep-state.
Was not Sudan partitioned between the moslem North and Christians and Animalists of the South? Again, an area we have no business being in. Let Britain handle it as they did in the 1880s.
Obviously he wasn’t on the government payroll when doing this, otherwise it would be entirely ok.

Is he funding the mostly Christian southern Sudan which has an arms embargo? Who are being wiped out by Moslem northern Sudan?
