OPINION: Zaluzhny to London – Who Needs This?

So, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has finally decided to fill the long-vacant vacancy in London by appointing Ukraine’s ex-Army Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi to this post. This is his prerogative.

At first glance, I'm happy that this inexplicably long delay in filling this important post has been addressed. That a replacement for the previous very capable ambassador Vadym Prystaiko, dismissed in July 2023 at the whim of the president, has been identified.

The UK, after all, has become, Ukraine’s major ally and maintaining diplomatic relations at the appropriate level is critical.

There was no excuse for Zelensky and his team to have sacked Ukraine’s ambassador in London, the very capable Vadym Prystaiko, in the abrupt and unexplained way as was done, and to have delayed for so long in appointing a replacement. Unless, someone high up had an interest in this?

He's lucky. Most people get beat up when trying leave Democratic Ukraine. They paid 10,000 to get smuggled out but got caught. Zaluzhnyi left with millions and gets a job.

In thinking about this, maybe Zelensky knows that Russia may soon have enough of the UK and end that problem once and for all, and so having Zaluzhny there will also result in Zaluzhny no longer being around (along with several million others).

Zaluzhny is more popular in Ukraine than Zelensky. I wonder if Zelensky wants him somewhere else because he fears being overthrown by him.

I think Valerii Zaluzhnyi wants a ceasefire but Zelensky wants a total Ukrainian victory.

Z wants whatever his DC masters tell him he wants. Z also knows his flight to his mansion in Florida or Rome is just months away. When he skedaddles he wants to still have access to his offshore accounts. He’ll do exactly as he’s told till the bitter end.
