I suppose he figures they were air dropped at the foot of the cliff so they could climb it, instead of dropping them a little farther on beyond the cliffs. Dolts who never wore the uniform have no clue.

The unit that made the assault on Pointe Du Hoc was the 2nd Battalion of the Provisional Ranger Group, attached to the 1st Infantry Division.
