Turbo chargers were used in aircraft long before they became common in cars and trucks.

“And my Ecoboost 1.6 peak torque is at just over 4,000 rpm”

Many variations but all I see come in at lower RPM.

The presumption is that there will be a Stellantis in ‘25

No, mine is the ST performance version made in UK. Little in common with the Escape!

“Horsepower: 197 HP @6000 RPM · Torque: 202 LB-FT @ 4200 RPM “

I was wrong about the redline — it’s 6500 not 5500. With tuning they raise it to 7000 without apparent ill effects.

And in a 2,699 pound vehicle that is reasonable power!

Typically for 1.6’s the curve is pretty flat from 2500 to 4500 then falls off.

Minor design variances can move the peak.

It's flatter than many.

“350 hp? My 5.0 is 750.”

Your 5.0 was still unrefined ore and undrilled oil by-products when my GTO was easily blowing the doors off of most Mustangs of the day.

Give me 55 years of technological progress, and I will raise you 1 Pontiac Ram Air V engine producing up to 900 HP on pump gas: https://www.krepower.com/Pontiac%20Street%20Engines.htm

The Mustang was a pony car, not a muscle car. Most had 200 or 289 ci. But the 428 was a different beast.

While you dream I drive.

If I had the spare change, I would be driving that right now. The engines are available right now, they’re not imaginary.

--------3800 hp-----------

Steve Morris Engines is a familiar name for those that follow the world of drag racing, or just the LS powerplant in general. After all, this is an outfit that created the famous all-billet SMX powerplant present in Tom Bailey‘s Camaro, a five-time Hot Rod Drag Week winner that has run a best quarter-mile of 5.99 seconds while also racking up over 1,000 miles of reliable street use thus far. That’s the sort of dual purpose build that most of us have always dreamed of having, but now, it seems as if Steve Morris Engines has once again topped itself in that regard.
