In a Deep-Blue City, Will Locals Get Tough on Crime?(Austin,TX)

AUSTIN, TX — Early last December, a billionaire named Daniel Lubetzky, who had moved to Austin, Texas, from New York City during the pandemic, hosted a meeting of civic leaders and businesspeople in the city. The number one subject on everyone’s mind was Austin’s troubling crime rate.

According to FBI crime statistics, as of October 2023, crime was higher in the Texas capital than the average number of murders, aggravated assaults, and robberies in the rest of Texas—and the nation. Violent crime, for instance, was nearly 40 percent higher in Austin than the national average. Meanwhile, since 2021, felonies were being knocked down to misdemeanors, criminals were avoiding jail time altogether, and victims were feeling ignored by the system. The number of criminal cases waiting to be prosecuted had reached an astounding 7,000.

The group agreed that one person in particular was to blame: Travis County district attorney José Garza, a 44-year-old former workers’ rights attorney. Garza swept into office after the Black Lives Matters protests, backed by groups funded by George Soros. Like other Soros-supported DAs across the country, including George Gascón in Los Angeles, Larry Krasner in Philadelphia, and Chesa Boudin in San Francisco, Garza promised to make the criminal justice system more humane—eliminating most drug possession prosecutions, calling for fewer and shorter sentences, holding the police to account. But this progressive agenda simply hasn’t worked.

The article title is awful when it's about the DA race in Austin. I hope someone can knock off the Soros DA there.

Garza is a disaster for Austin.

But, Austin is deep blue, so they are willing to put Critical Race Theory, and other Marxist ideologies ahead of rising crime and lawlessness.

The county is populated by airhead. I’ll be surprised if the current DA - Jose Garza - is voted out.

The answer is resoundingly NO. For liberals, ideology is more important than survival. Hard for us to understand.

“But this progressive agenda simply hasn’t worked.”

Au Contraire...if your goal is to destroy the USA, it’s working perfectly. And the only explanation for every single Democrat action the past 10 to 15 years is to destroy the USA.

Baffling to me that the dummies think Leftism is about increasing personal freedoms and geared to help the average citizen. It’s like they’ve never read a history book, or perhaps they are so delusional they think it will finally work this time around.

I remember when the radical DA went after Rick Perry. This was one of the first Democrat attempts at political lawfare. They got their asses handed to them by Houston Attorney Tony Buzbee. Recently the dummies in the are as House tried to impeach Ken Paxton and Tony mopped the floor with them:

Democrats help illegals cross the border and they help criminals. They’ve got skin in the game.

I'm afraid too many libs, from Cali, have transplanted to Austin, to keep it weird, er, deep blue....and, keep $oro$ backed leftists, like this guy, in place.

Would love to be wrong, on this one.

Garza on the right, his Dem opponent, on left ....

No kidding. People are either blissfully unaware or purposely ignorant to think that a totalitarian regime is a free society. They have zero historical knowledge or perspective. How can people logically think Hard Work = Reward and All Rewards should to to the STATE to be redistributed? Don’t they understand what that does to the desire to better oneself and get ahead.

For a perfect example, look at the lazy Bernie Sanders in the Kibbutz.

Look at Joe Biden and Barack Obama. Neither have any experience outside of politics and neither possess any unique skillset (well, Barack being half-Black but he was born into that privilege) yet they have both made tens of millions of dollars and both became Presidents of the USA. They are complete Nothings. Same as Dubya Bush and his dad. In my lifetime, Reagan, Carter, Clinton, and Trump are the only Presidents that actually had to work to get in that position, and all but Carter were at first hated by their party leadership.

I don’t give Clinton credit for much, but he did go against the wishes of his party on more than one occasion and if the GOP doesn’t impeach him which rallied the Dems, Hillary never happens in the Senate or any other position.
