Nope.
The beginning of the end was when the US decided to elect a guy who had never had an honest job. Twice.
Who then proceeded to get us involved in several wars and forcibly nationalize entire island of Puerto Rico so they could be drafted as cannon fodder for his endless wars.
And gave us the fed and the IRS.
