No. ¡Yeb! was the 2016 designated loser. He was supposed to walk easily into the nomination and then lose to Her Heinous the same way McCain and Romney lost to Obama while enriching the consultant class for a lot more than the measly $150 million he funneled to them for his four delegates.
If you analyze it a little closer, you will understand that the deepstate has “factions”. It used to be Republican and Democrat factions. It has now changed.
Hillary and Obama represent two different factions of the deepstate each trying to wrest control from one another.
The deepstate ALWAYS wins....even when they don’t win.
2016 was not an instance of them “forgetting to cheat enough to win”. It was a coup inside the deepstate to prevent the other side from gaining control of it.
2008 - Obama
2012 - Obama
2016 - Obama’s deepstate controling an outsider who had no institutional power
2020 - Obama’s dementia riddled puppet
2024 - Big Mike as Pres or VP
2028 - Big Mike as Pres or VP
The “failure” in 2016 allowed the Obama wing of the deepstate to control Washington for 24 years.

Yes, I completely agree. He was going to dutifully lose to Hillary. But he was a safe backstop, just in case. So either way the people voted, there would be no changes whatsoever in policy. Illegal immigration would continue, Roe vs Wade would continue, Obamacare would continue, foreign wars would continue, the takeover of the judiciary would continue, etc.
Trump stopped all of that and more. And will again.
Trump is better than any person the Democrats are likely to field.
If Republicans helped each other instead of attacked each other, the party would be stronger.
Trump got little help from a Republican Congress.

Chrissy vetoed (twice, IIRC) redistricting plans formulated by the GOP in the NH legislature which would have created 1 Republican district and 1 Democrat district in New Hampshire instead of 2 Democrat-leaning districts.
Another RINO asshole Governor (Hutchinson) also vetoed a GOP redistricting plan in Arkansas because it wasn’t “nice” enough to Democrats, but his grandstanding accomplished nothing.

Yet Trump is still here and if Lara takes over the RNC the Trump effect on the GOP will stay around long after all of the RINO assholes are forgotten.

Republicans in the northeast US and the left coast have one thing in common. They are RINO’s. Period. To get elected they have to be democrat/communist light.
Voting in those leftist enclaves is like choosing a color for a car. Two choices, dark deep red or light red. Regardless of the election results, they still get a communist red.
After Trump, a new leader of MAGA will emerge. I’m liking Ted Cruz as an heir. Sununu’s Mitt Romney wing is dead forever.
