Interpreting the Bible isn’t your job anyway.

Am I at least allowed to read it?

Whose job is it to interpret the Bible?

And who appointed you the final arbiter of who is and who isn't allowed to interpret the Bible?

Regards,

The ignorant and unstable twist the scriptures to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:15. If you have no knowledge of biblical languages, nor of literary and translation conventions, you are ignorant. Scripture itself is warning you that you’re way out of your depth and are not competent to deal with it.

You are the victim of a 16th century superstition, that the Bible is the Christian Owner’s Manual, containing everything true about faith and morals, and that every man is competent to interpret it for himself. Scripture itself contradicts this myth, but it’s highly attractive because it offers to release its believers from all religious authority. To his apostles, Jesus gave both authority and insight that he didn’t impart to all, but you have made yourself blind to the fact that you hear Jesus not by reading the Bible but by hearing the apostles and their authorized successors. You will probably reject this, because you enjoy being your own master. Jer 2:20.
