The west absolutely could ensure a Ukrainian victory if the political will existed. Collectively the west can easily out produce Russia in munition output supplies and logistics. If we had given everything wd have given them from the start this war would already be over instead giving things piecemeal so that they can only hold the Russians in check rather than win.

If Russia wins you can expect to see a rush for nuclear proliferation and the acquisition of other WMDs, which may eventually fall into the hands of very unsavoury or deranged religious regimes. If Russi wins the enemies of the west will smell blood and be driven into a frenzy, and then you will have war thanks to appeasing fools who think showing weakness and lack of resolve will show our enemies anything other than a green light to keep pushing further and further until there is no choice left but to go to war.

31Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32And if he is unable, he will send a delegation while the other king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace.…

I’m getting the impression that eastern Ukraine would rather be part of Russia.

Am I way off here?

My Grandfather was born in Kiev at the turn of the last century but considered himself adamantly Russian.

Would like to see an article on what the eastern Ukrainians think.

The dominant language in Eastern Ukraine is Russian.

Russia is winning the war and there is little to suggest that any foreseeable political, economic, tactical or technological developments are likely to alter that fundamental reality.

So how about we just escape reality and find another couple hundred billion for the laudnramat. Just to see swamp critters smile a bit again - they are getting snarly these days. Besides, we just print it anyway. It's not like were using actual real money for this.

Biden has convinced those who support funding his proxy war we are funding a fight against the old global monolithic USSR threat that died over 30 years ago rather than some stunted kleptocracy that is a regional threat to Europe who refuses to defend itself.

One month into this the Ukes had a deal negotiated giving them control over all of Ukraine excluding Crimea. No NATO, but a large, neutral Uke army permitted. The long established economic ties were to remain. In other words, a neutral Ukraine would implement the Minsk Agreement. The neutral buffer Eisenhower had envisioned would be re established. The West talked Z out of taking the deal. The promised payoff for Z, total Uke victory. The fool followed right down the primrose path. After 300,000 more dead Ukrainians, a loss of at least a quarter of the Ukrainian population and an additional quarter of its territory, we’re asked to pay the $61 B toll in order to continue down the primrose path to total victory.

What crap. What total crap. Ukraine wants your damned Russian friends to go back to Russia. They don’t want a victory over Russia because they never attacked Russia.

But you know what? This might not end unless Russia is utterly vanquished and defeated just the same as Nazi Germany was utterly vanquished and defeated.

And I don’t want to see any victory parade in Red Square in front of the Kremlin.

If it were up to me I’d destroy them both and erase them from history. The world would be a better place and so would Russia.

The Ukraine was part of the Russian empire/USSR from 1793-1991. That’s longer than Texas has been part of the USA. One of the MANY reasons why I do NOT “stand with Ukraine.”

They aren’t supposed to win. They are supposed to die so that inbred NeoCons psychopaths can fight the Russians through proxies. They are expendable Slavs. No NeoCons’ kids will be put in harm’s way.

The idea of total Ukrainian victory is delusional

It is a military contest, not a popularity contest. Anything but a Russian victory has been delusional since day one.

Some people just can’t handle the truth. Ukraine can’t defeat Russia no matter how many weapons we send them. It is immoral to continue to prolong this proxy war. It is also fiscally irresponsible to continue to borrow huge amounts of money to send to Ukraine. And the black hole will require more and more money, including rebuilding Ukraine, which was one of the poorest and most corrupt countries in Europe before the war.

I think all know that this isn’t about a win rather to maintain all the avenue roads of funds/revenue now and in the future traveling between International leaders/countries into and out of the Ukrainian washing machine into theirs.......

“delivery of American, French, or British wonder weapons”,
“these true believers have felt compelled to concoct imagined pathways to total Ukrainian victory”.

Sounds like the same discussions that were taking place in a certain Berlin Bunker in early April 1945.

Guess we will just have to wait and see if the script stays the same.
