Massachusetts expanded the child tax credit. Congress should too.

Everywhere I go, I hear from people who are struggling to keep up with rising costs. It’s the No. 1 concern on everyone’s minds. Too many families across this country are hurting. They’ve been dealing with high housing costs, high child care costs, and high college costs for too long, and they have been hit hard by global inflation since the pandemic.

I know that there is no stress like financial stress on a family, because it never goes away. It eats at your sense of security. It impacts every little decision. I saw it firsthand growing up, as my mom did everything she could to provide for us five kids on her own as a school nurse.

That’s why we took action in Massachusetts to lower costs for everyone. And now Congress has the opportunity to do the same at the federal level.

There is a bill that was unanimously passed by the House a week or 2 ago that increased the credit giveaway in exchange for a bunch of corporate tax breaks. The Senate has not taken it up and I know a bunch of the Dems were screaming the credit was not high enough.

They’ve been dealing with high housing costs, high child care costs, and high college costs for too long, and they have been hit hard by global inflation since the pandemic.

And how many of those are caused by government action to "fix" other problems? High child care costs by stricter licensing and higher minimum wage. Higher housing costs by restrictive zoning. Higher college costs by the money firehouse of student loans along with things like a college degree being a substitute for now illegal company skills testing if applicants.

EITC & CTC are welfare and fraud vehicles for so much money.

Child Tax Credit & Earned Income Tax Credit.

Every year there are stories about the abuse of these. The EITC is just another welfare program. People (illegal invaders, citizens, whoever) who officially earn very little can still file a tax return, sometimes receiving thousands of dollars. The most obvious example of the fraud was a 4 apartment building that filled out and submitted over 20 EITC claims from the same address. The grifters get their 10%, and the gangs, cartels, etc get their share. Imagine the Covid $$$ fraud happening every April 15th. In this Era of Direct Deposit, the money flows ever more easily.

This is uniparty bill if ever there was one...massive increase in the credit that we all know is paid to illegals, and huge corporate tax breaks. No spending cuts so the deficit just got bigger.

The Federal so-called Child Tax Credit is a complete sham. If you pay no taxes in the first place you don’t NEED a credit. But here, you pay no taxes and voila, money appears from heaven. You are encouraged not to work, or work and not report it, and to have more kids. Nothing wrong in having more kids, just be prepared to pay for them!

Mass is so screwed.

Next fall all of these immigrant kids are going to flow into school systems that are already over burdened and under funded. My local taxes are already nuts. I cannot imagine being in a town with a bunch of these people with a declining tax base.

And you cannot just go raising property taxes without an overriding vote from the city/town populace.

A one-time payment of another $440 is like getting a 21 cent/hr raise. It’s helps but it ain’t going to keep up with inflation. Massachusetts combined two existing tax credits and increased one of them a bit to get to $440 for 2024. So they really didn’t do a whole lot of anything here.

Taxpayers are tapped out.

It is about votes, thus the Left resists spending much on America's own border, and spends much on fostering immigration as a form of political cleansing, while the very passive GOP hardly seems to care or consider engaging with immigrants, showing the consequences of extended reliance upon gov., yet most immigrants are actually overall far less ideologically liberal (though mostly voting for the Democrats) than the college-educated liberal elites who obtain power by craft.
The typical American picture of a family with 2.5 kids might not be as relevant as it once was: In 2023, there was an average of 1.94 children under 18 per family in the United States. This is a decrease from 2.33 children under 18 per family in 1960. If there's one thing the United States is known for, it's diversity.Nov 28, 2023 - https://www.statista.com/statistics/718084/average-number-of-own-children-per-family/
In the United States, the highest fertility rates (per 1,000 women ages 15-44) during 2019-2021 (average) were to Hispanic women (63.5), followed by blacks (60.2), American Indian/Alaska Natives (55.8), Whites (54.4) and Asian/Pacific Islanders (52.9). - https://www.marchofdimes.org/peristats/data?reg=99&top=2&stop=4&lev=1&slev=1&obj=1
In all, 31% of U.S. adults report that they have not had any children, while 14% have had one child, 28% have had two, 15% have had three, 7% have had four and 5% have had five or more.Sep 25, 2023. - https://news.gallup.com/poll/511238/americans-preference-larger-families-highest-1971.aspx

The annual Beanpot college hockey tournament was held last night in Boston. A loud crowd involving two Boston schools (Northeastern and BU) in the Finals. The OT was electric. A great atmosphere. Then came the post-game on-ice ceremony. She was introduced to deliver a trophy and was booed vociferously by the crowd that was overwhelmingly college-aged kids! Quite the awakening

CAN I POINT OUT THAT INFLATION IS HITTING ALL OF US????

NOT JUST THOSE WHO HAVE KIDS AS DEPENDENTS?

I am 84. CERTAINLY NO KIDS AT HOME.

THIS IS OUTRIGHT DISCRIMINATION, IMO.

I have been comparing costs before Biden in office with my purchases now.

WAL MART purchases-—except for gas

before now INCREASE %
White bread $ .84 $ 1.38 57

gallon milk 2.83 3.69 30

CHOC SYRUP 3.98 5.46 37

1# butter 2.94 3.78 29

OLD ROY DOG
FOOD 19.98/50# 27.18/46# 48

18 eggs 1.71 2.88 68

5 qt jug oil
20/50 Castrol 16.97 34.97 206

GAS regular/gal 2.759 3.799 38

YET BIDEN & HIS ADMIN LIARS ARE touting inflation of 3.4 %.

THEY ARE LYING THRU THEIR TEETH.

THE CHOC SYRUP is to add to milk—snack all day long

I HAVE THE RECEIPTS....

I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE

BIDEN IS INSULTING EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN WITH THEIR STATEMENTS
