Coming from Rolling Stone, I would never assume this is true. More likely an effort by RS to sow disunity in the republican ranks by exploiting those who are gullible.
Should Trump forgive him? That’s up to Trump. But he’s right to not trust him. Trump’s seen DeSantis’s true character, as have the rest of us. That doesn’t change just because he decides to endorse you. DeSantis doesn’t have enough integrity to be Trump’s successor as president. If he can prove himself useful in some lesser role, like Cruz has, then that’s a separate issue.

The problem for Trump is that either way it is totally plausible because of his history in doing/saying things exactly like this.
