There are many connections between Germany and wherever you want to look. Between Germany and Russia, and Germany and the US too.
In part the Germany-Russia connection is the cause for the very tentative response of Germany vis a vis the current war. The German left-wing, definitely including the SPD, has long had pro-USSR and pro-Russia factions. Ex.-the whole Nordstream pipeline thing was an SPD project undertaken against the NATO-US consensus, going back to the 1960s.
All the high Nazis died, killed themselves, or were executed.
If any escaped, as you say, name one. Junior guys or people the Allies knew nothing about at the time managed to sneak off. Mengele and Skorenzy were in that category.
At best the US got third tier guys and they only for specific reasons, like technical managers (Werner von Braun), ex-Generals (like von Rundstedt, Halder, Heinrici, von Brauchitsch, Manstein) that the allies wanted to debrief.
Some of these guys got rehabilitated in the 1950’s because the Allies wanted people to set up the West German army. Hasso von Manteuffel is your guy here.
Who cares
How stupid
I agree
And I’m far more ambivalent over Ukraine than you obviously
It’s silly
Both sides politically these days say whatever
Sad but true.
Still, it is to be expected.
Germanophobia is an ideology, and we all on this forum know (I think) how difficult it is to reason with any kind of ideologue - if it’s possible at all...
True, especially what you said about the SA.
In 1933, after H. had come to power, whole bataillons of the Red Front Fighters changed their allegiance and switched wholesale to membership in the SA.
They were sometimes (but not to their faces, needless to say) mockingly referred to as the “Bulettenstürme”, i.e. “fried meatball bataillons” - brown on the outside, red on the inside :-)
You are right. It is hardly more than just mudslinging.
The quote by Socrates in answer Nr. 13 by Mr. Mulligan may be ancient, but it’s still worth its salt.
:-)
