"The linguistic composition of the uyezds (povits) of Taurida in 1897. Ukrainians in yellow, Russians in red, Crimean Tatars in green, Germans in gray, Yiddish speakers in blue, and others in purple. (in Ukrainian)"

"Taurida Governorate[a] was an administrative-territorial unit (guberniya) of the Russian Empire. It included the territory of the Crimean Peninsula and the mainland between the lower Dnieper River with the coasts of the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. It formed after Taurida Oblast was abolished in 1802 during the course of Paul I's administrative reform of the territories of the former Crimean Khanate which were annexed by Russia in 1783. The governorate's centre was the city of Simferopol. The name of the province was derived from Taurida (Greek: Ταυρική), a historical name for Crimea.

"Today the territory of the governorate is part of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts of Ukraine, which were annexed by Russia but remain internationally recognized as part of Ukraine."

touchy, touchy ... guess I hit a sensitive spot

Maybe, I have little tolerance for people who state their opinion as fact. Especially when a moron like you does it.

Russia is not perfect by any means, however your description of Russia is an anachronism to the 1950s Soviet Union. Russians have private ownership and economic freedoms that match the United States in many respects.

"Taurida Oblast (Russian: Таврическая область, Tavricheskaya oblast′) was an oblast (province) of the Russian Empire. It roughly corresponded to most of the Crimean Peninsula and parts of the Southern Ukraine regions. It was created out of territories of the Crimean Khanate, which Russia annexed in 1783. In 1796 it was merged into the Novorossiya Governorate. The name Taurida comes from the old Greek name for the area, Tauris, as in ancient times several Greek city-states had developed colonial outposts in the area.

"The oblast was created under the Imperial ukase of February 1784 signed by Catherine the Great."

History is something we could all use a little more knowledge of IMHO.

I read Solzhenitsyn’s “Gulag Archipelago” all three volumes translated into English back in the 1970’s.

It got tedious towards the end but Solzhenitsyn ended up mentioning Ukraine and his sense that people there should want to be part of Russia his reference to their Russian heritage, ethnicity and language and that has played out since the NATO coup of 2014 in Ukraine.

The borders of Ukraine the US-NATO idolize are also the borders of Ukraine as defined by the Communist Soviet Union I keep thinking I guess the Commies did take over all of our governments with their moles.

their opinion as fact

Oh please, you stated that the US is "just like Russia", attacking and annexing other countries just like Russia did

(Georgia 2008, Ukraine 2014 and 2022-24)

So I asked you to tell us which neighboring countries the US had attacked and annexed in the last 20 years, just like Russia did

Here's your chance to answer ... or are you going to resort to insults again?

It is a good interview and overdue.
Agree or disagree, there are two sides to this conflict (and probably 3).

Before we send our sons and daughters to die in the conflict, it is worth hearing.

You don’t have to listen to Putin.

I will listen if I don’t have to register. Even if I do, I might.

I also found it interesting. As much as for what was not answered as what was. More interesting still was how the talking heads are spinning it. I heard Trump’s name mentioned once in passing in a two hour interview, but DM said Putin sang his praises. Didn’t happen. Putin talked A LOT about Bush 2 however. Then there are the folks who read MSM synopses and think they can comment intelligently. Whatever. I watched the whole thing, even replaying parts. Even got to use a bit of my Russian to check the translation.

Fascinating.

I agree with your idealistic understanding of America. I commend you for expressing it. Perhaps saying it will help to make it so.

TUCKER: Are you by any chance familiar with Free Republic?

PUTIN: Yes, yes, I have some of my best people on there, I call them Peepers, they get a ruble every time they call somebody a Zeeper. Jeepers creepers, I loves my peepers.

TUCKER: What’s a ruble in real money?

PUTIN: Oh look, an open window, let us go over and check the view.
