Putin's Chances of Winning Ukraine War Look Bright
Newsweek ^ | Jan 14, 2024 | Brendan Cole

Three scenarios for the war started by Vladimir Putin in Ukraine are envisaged by Philip Breedlove, the former Supreme Allied Commander Europe—and two of them involve a Russian victory.

"If we don't do anything different than we're doing now, eventually, Ukraine will lose because Russia has more people and depth than Ukraine does," he told Newsweek.

"If the West abandons Ukraine, it will fight valiantly but tens of thousands of more Ukrainians will die and eventually Russia will subjugate all of Ukraine which will once again be a Russian vassal."

But one path offers hope for Ukraine, according to Breedlove, who as NATO commander between 2013 and 2016 witnessed the consequences of Putin's annexation of Crimea in 2014 that preceded his full-scale invasion.

"If the West chooses to give Ukraine what they need to win, Ukraine will win this war," the four-star general said. "This war is going to end exactly how Western policymakers want and desire it to end."

That need for more western weapons informed Volodymr Zelensky's exasperated plea this week that the fight against Putin is not just Kyiv's. "He's not going to stop until we all finish him off together," the Ukrainian president said on Thursday.

Shallow thinking...fouth opportunity, Trump explains to both of them a good and realistic pathway to peace.

The Russians can tie balloons to tanks and to tree stumps.

The images of the balloon covered tanks and the balloon covered tree stumps will look the same in both the visual and infrared from the air.

I don't care anymore. I never much did. Fix our borders first, build a border wall and stop the ongoing invasion. Then worry about Ukraine's problems - Mitch McConnell needs to remember he works for the US, just as much as Ilhan Omar does.

$200 billion from Biden to Ukraine in under two years. Wish he cared half as much about the U.S.’s borders as he does Ukraine’s.

The Russians can cover both tanks and the cheapest used cars in Russia with balloons, plywood or hay and they will look the same to the smartest American toys Biden and Congress can give away.

Written 3 weeks ago. Events change rapidly in war. No more money to Ukraine. They can never win so it’s futile, plus we simply can’t afford it.

That's the problem.

Mitch McConnell "works" for the US just as much as Ilhan Omar does.

I haven't read anything about Ukraine getting more $$$ from the U.S., did you?

We need to send them money and more weapons now.

But it appears to me that Joe Biden is not allowed to close the border.

So the House Republicans won't give him the money to send to Ukraine.

Time is on Russia's side. All they have to do is to win the war of attrition and wait for Ukraine to run out of ammo.

Some have brought up that the West’s armament stocks may be near complete deletion and the West’s industrial capacity is incapable of supplying the arms Ukraine needs in a timely fashion. Option three might be off the table.

“Putin’s Chances of Winning Ukraine War Look Bright”

It’s actually RUSSIA’s chances of winning, Putin is just one guy there and he IS NOT on the battlefield.

At to this headline - seems to me that he’s making the case for WW3, since NOTHING could be worse than Russia ruling over Russian-speakers who voted overwhelmingly for just that outcome.

Ukraine has already been given enormous amounts of money to feed back into US weapons manufacturers. To a large degree they have done that. Given who are “Western Policymakers” are at present, why on Earth would we want to hand them a victory (even if it only cost $1 let alone hundreds of billions of dollars).

For the first time since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine on February 24th 2022, he looks as if he could win. Russia’s president has put his country on a war footing and strengthened his grip on power. He has procured military supplies abroad and is helping turn the global south against America. Crucially, he is undermining the conviction in the West that Ukraine can—and must—emerge from the war as a thriving European democracy.

If an F-35 flies over Russian-held territory or close to it and gets shot down its technology might wind up in Russian hands and factories (and maybe Chinese hands and factories).

Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act

“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

So, right now, there is a law on the books that Biden can use to immediately suspend the illegals coming across our border. We don’t need any new law superceding existing law, Senators.

Asking Congress to pass a new law is an attempt to shift blame away from himself for the border disaster.

He created the mess and he can fix it.

All Joe Biden lacks is brain power and integrity.

This has been going on for two years now. Pretty much since week two the war was “over.”

If Russia really was a superpower, it would have been over. Maybe not in two weeks, but at most two months.

Now it's been two years.

The only thing that saddens me is a lot of regular Ukrainians and Russians are dying due to the corruption, incompetence, and arrogance of pretty much all the power players involved including Biden. This is of course JMHO.
