Why can’t we have stand alone bills?
I always wonder about that too.
Why do we have to have these ominous bills all the time which combine unrelated subjects?
Why do we have to have bills that can be over a thousand pages long and then Speakers of the House tell us we have to pass it to see what’s in it?
The answer is we don’t have to have bills that are thousands of pages and combine unrelated subjects. But for whatever reason Congress, and members of both political parties, choose to do business that way
