If WWI was bad, the Russo-Ukraine war should be even worse as both sides will maneuver opposite each other and create an endless series of stalemates.
“The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War said...”
Nuland and Kagan...
The Uke nazis were conducting ethnic cleansing in the east. They were also about to give Sevastopol to NATO for a Navy base before the coup of 2014. They cut off all historic freshwater supplies to Crimea.
So true. Putin has died from ten different illnesses his troops are drunk using rusty weapons & need Viagra to rape Ukrainian women.... The silliest propaganda I’ve ever seen comes from Ukraine
You’ve never been on the receiving end of 1950s artillery. A 155mm round will kill you just as dead no matter what year the piece firing it was built. Long Toms may have been designed in the 1940s but you still don’t want to be on the receiving end.
In war, propaganda is a large part of the effort. It always has been and always will be. Therefore, I am skeptical of just about anything I read from a single source.
What is important is what is happening among military leaders and the soldiers with boots on the ground. It sounds like Russia is amassing a large presence in occupied Ukraine.
This is the dead of winter. The ground should be frozen and so if not too much fresh snow good conditions for tanks to attack. The bad news is that there should be few trees with leaves to hide positions of Russian troops and equipment.
So a concentration of Russian military preparing for an attack, sounds like a “target rich” environment for Ukrainian soldiers, drones, artillery, missiles, etc.
The question is will the Ukraine military have the intelligence to know what to hit when, and will they have the properly trained troops and equipment in the right places to destroy the “bunched up Russians,” or will the Russians have the intelligence, necessary logistics in place, and command control to push farther into Ukraine?
My vote is that NATO (and especially US satellite) intelligence will be given to Ukraine along with the right kind of munitions in time to destroy the Russian offensive before it makes any real progress. Far too many NATO member country military’s want to bleed Russia dry (because they are afraid of fighting them) and far too many western munitions manufacturers want to prove to potential clients the benefits of their expensive weapons.
The problem for Ukrainians is that their allies, just want Russia to continue to bleed, and bleed, and bleed. That means that the end of this war is a long way off and there is only so much suffering a people can take without desperation.
I honestly think that the ultimate result will be a North/South Korea like situation where the war never ends, but the shelling by both sides slows to a crawl. How truly sad.
About describes it, doesn’t it?
As the world’s militaries watch the battlefield in Ukraine, American weapon sales are booming, and Russia’s are crashing.
Weapon for weapon would you rather be backed by modern artillery or 1950s artillery?
None of that was true however. Even Russians realize this and so are asking the question.
This is brought to you by the Russian ministry of propaganda.
(whats good for the goose!)
“The Uke nazis were conducting ethnic cleansing in the east.”
Ukraine did no such thing. It was fighting a civil war — fomented by Russia — that ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine initiated when they declared independence in 2014. The civil war ran from 2014 to — arguably — 2022 (when Russia escalated its invasion; thus, changing the nature of the war); during that time, some 14,000 people — from BOTH sides of the civil war — died, including some 3,500 non-combatants: The other 10,500 were combatants (i.e., armed forces). If that is ethnic cleansing, Ukraine is the most inept “ethnic cleanser” in history. But, of course, the claim of “ethnic cleansing” is just a Russian talking point that is eagerly picked up and parroted by Russia’s water-carriers.
“They were also about to give Sevastopol to NATO for a Navy base before the coup of 2014.”
Link, please.
“They cut off all historic freshwater supplies to Crimea.”
AFTER Russia invaded Crimea in 2014 and illegally annexed it. Even at that, Crimea still had access to fresh water (though much reduced from that available prior to Ukraine taking action after Russia’s 2014 invasion and illegal annexation).
I get it: You are on Russia’s side in this war (and you are entitled to support whomever you wish). But you do your side and its argument no favors when you simply repeat Russian talking points.

On Tuesday nights we get together for hair pulling and eye scratching. Be sure to stop by! It’s fun! Bring the kids!

“Especially when paired with overwhelming artillery superiority.”
Now if only Ruzzia had overwhelming artillery superiority.
Neither. 82mm mortars were bad enough.
Russia is still fighting some dozens of miles from its border. The buffoonery would be hilarious if it wasn’t so tragic with Ukrainian cities genocidal erased and hundreds of already dead in Putin’s genocidal spree. We certainly see Nazism in its purest form here from one party state fascist Russia.
Which has nothing to do with your silly post 28.
