But how can they testify in favor of stopping it when they’re the ones doing it?

They’re likely discussing how not to get caught like that episode of South Park.

What a joke. The US Senate “grills” the CEO’s of the various social media companies. Senators like Linda Graham beat on Facebook, Tik-Tok, X, etc.

They are complaining about “sexual exploitation”, “trafficking” and other things that the Senate is concerned about regarding the social media companies. The irony or actually the hypocrisy of anyone in the US Congress pointing to such things while Congress itself has screwed up the lives of Americans in ways that cannot be counted. For decades Congress has messed up everything it touches yet it points at the social media companies and portends that it has the answers to anything?

Sure, the social media companies could do better but compared to Washington they are doing a fantastic job because at least they look at a problem then work on fixing it. Unlike Congress that generically does nothing but create problems for the public.

It’s laughable that US Senators point a finger at anyone. They have allowed sex trafficking across the US border, they have allowed murder via the import or drugs, they have allowed the enslavement of humans and the list goes on. Today the Senators bash the social media companies and even seem to complain the money they make while also borrowing and then printing money and running up a $100 trillion in debt. They also send billions to countries like Ukraine when that same money could be used for US veterans, helping people build US companies, better housing, better health care and the list goes on and on.

They grill the Tik-Tok CEO and shed tears about the “Communist Chinese Party” while allowing the Biden family and God knows how many other people in Washington to be paid off by the CCP. It’s all a hoke,

There is no left or right or Republicans or Democrats, there are only people playing their part and reading off their scripts and taking more money they deficit print.

The most absurd thing today about the Senate grousing over the social media companies and the deaths or injury of children who were “influenced” by such companies is that nobody points out the most basic question - “where were the parents”.

Insanity is the norm in the US.

I remember Jack Dorsey saying that child porn was okay because it didn’t violate Twitter terms of service.
And the guy in Twitter at the time whose job it was to make sure that stuff wasn’t on twitter instead banned people for reporting it.
Musk bought Twitter and immediately dumped the idiot who thought his job meant exploiting children.

Yep!!!!!

He played that well, he knew he could turn around away from the mics and say whatever he wants.

Thom Tillis just said “we could legislate you out of business” and that’s all you need to hear from the bozos in the US Senate. People who could not run a child’s lemonade stand think they can tell someone like a Zuckerberg or Musk or some actually smart people how to run a business correctly. It’s a joke because they are all jokes.

A funny little note, about 15 years ago we built a system that would be placed on a PC. It would track everything, even to the point it would take video snippets, chats and whatnot and send it to the parents’ machine. The parent could even access the target machine and shut off various programs. We even built a chunk that would propagate the software on to other machines on the same network. I decided there was too much liability and hassle and put the thing on the shelf. Today, I think that AI is the solution to a lot of this parental control stuff.

Ensor and track for the sake of our children. There is no money changing hands here. Just pure love for the children.
Only kindergarten teachers can run porno programs.

It’s also laughable because Zuckerberg’s $419 MILLION take over of local election processes was a major factor in the Democrats “winning” in 2020. They can bring social media in to testify, but the Dems desperately need Zuckerberg to do “Election Steal 2.0”.

When Trump authorized DHS to do DNA screening of the invasion horde, it found THIRTY PERCENT of accompanied minors were NOT related to the adult bringing them into the USA. Was there ANY concern for the welfare of those minors then? Trump was concerned and maybe some Republicans, but the Democrats could not have cared less because all they see is new votes for them by a new perpetual underclass.

Innocent children to them are nothing but necessary cost of staying in power.

Besides, why would they care about kids when they are happy to slaughter a million unborn every year?

Congress reeks.

A promising initiative:

Florida House passes a bill to ban social media accounts for children under 16
