MPs went after each other, throwing punches, pulling hair and blowing toy trumpets during a session of parliament in the Maldives. The fight came after the opposition party refused to approve 4 new cabinet ministers – who are members of the newly-elected president’s party.
Now they’ve gone too far…blowing toy trumpets.
Lets don't give our clowns new ideas.
While our politicians blow smoke.
Those trumpets can make “insurrection” fun for the whole family in “our democracy”.
Lol.
When I was living and working in Saudi Arabia, there were lots of TV advertisements promoting The Maldives. Great SCUBA and snorkeling.
Then, a Muslim was elected to the major office in that country...followed by a new Constitution, that limited voting to Muslims and dis-enfranchized all of the non-Muslims who had been living there for more generations than Islam has existed.
I never went there, as a result.
Why? Did the Parliament Cafeteria run out of chicken sandwiches?
U.S. Dept. of State.gov
“The United States established diplomatic relations with Maldives in 1966 following its independence and has since enjoyed friendly ties. The United States has sought to support Maldives’ ongoing democratic initiatives, economic development, and social and environmental ambitions.”
What could go wrong?
“While our politicians blow smoke.”
and other things.
Trumpet probably brought out subconscious feelings of inadequacy and rivalry among them.🤪🎺
As usual, Bob Dylan was able to secretly get something into a lyric in 1966:
Absolutely Sweet Marie
Sometimes it gets so hard, you see
I’m just sitting here beating on my trumpet
With all these promises you left for me
But where are you tonight, sweet Marie?
Too much info!
Sorry. You’re right.
When I used to post some people would unbelievingly demand my sources or ask for more details.
… But it’s all right now
I learned my lesson well
You see, you can’t please everyone
So you got to please yourself
