It's the trick they use to give the more moderate/liberal Republican a boost going into the more conservative south.

How times change. Back in 1976, it was openly stated without question that Reagan was drawing non-Republican crossover votes in the southern primaries. Back then, a lot of conservative Democrats had not yet moved over, as in some ways the Republican Party was the party of Nelson Rockefeller and his ilk.

It was the same in 2016 in NH and here in MA. Droves of Democrats switched registrations so they could help Trump in the primary. And remember Rush’s “operation chaos” in 2008, where Republicans switched to help Hillary and stretch out the Dem nomination process.

But in the eyes of a young reporter, these things just don’t happen! Why, that’s misinformation and unfounded claims!
