I'm just wondering why this isn't more developed by now? It's a great way to use up nuclear fuel and the batteries are essentially reusable.

So a terrorist buys a hundred batteries and makes his own dirty bomb. What could go wrong?

My dad led the program at General Electric to build the multi-hundred watt Radioisotope Thermal Generators (RTG) for the Voyager spacecraft. His power plants on the two Voyagers are still working and producing power today! Well done, Dad!!

The BV100 can produce 100 microwatts at 3 volts and measures 15 x 15 x 5 mm. Beavolt estimates that such batteries could one day power a mobile phone so it never needs recharging or keep a small drone in the air indefinitely.

It either works or it doesn’t. Put it on the market so we can test it.

100 microvolts at 3 volts is 0.000033333333333333335 amps. Not much current here. You would have a big cost in diamond to produce anything worthwhile. Perhaps a spacecraft application would be one I can think of.

Doesn’t say how much it costs. Just guessing but I expect it costs more than $9.99 or $99.99 or $999.99, maybe less than $9999.99.
