Police Scotland are to pay thousands of pounds in damages to a street preacher who was arrested and detained in Glasgow in 2022.
Angus Cameron, pastor of Cumnock Baptist Church, was told by the arresting officer that a complaint had been made about "homophobic language", a claim he strenuously denied.

This story might be more about UK police abuse of power than anything else.
The first officer that talked to Mr. Cameron said what he was doing was perfectly legal. Then a second officer came along and arrrested him.

Hallelujah!
Church Militant win!
I would think a review of every arrest by the 5 officers should be undertaken. I would easily believe this is not the first time they have been bullies.
It shouldn’t even be a fight.
These officers seriously believe they have the right to police speech because somebody might be offended.
That mentality is common and terrifying.

The key word there is “might”. The arresting officer couldn’t even tell the preacher who actually was offended.
We see almost the same thing in the US. All it takes is one woke person to complain. Then statues come down. Places are renamed. Etc.
As “homophobic language” is asserted in the Scriptures, the war on the church and the Western culture is advanced. As those assertions are slapped down, the attacks are repelled. Time to slap back again and again. Romans 1 is a fine place to start.
Agreed, although in the UK (and Europe), you can also find yourself behind bars. The UK police seem to be clearly politically aligned with the left.
...which is extra sad as my cousin is one of them. I asked him about free speech some years ago, respective to the laws around ‘offensive speech’. His answer, terrifyingly, was that “nobody ‘really’ gets arrested for violating them”. Ah, I see, so they’re there to intimidate. Now, even worse, they’re actually being used, used selectively to target specific groups.
“ A win for Christian religious freedom in the UK.”
How is this a win? The arresting officers aren’t out a single nickel, the taxpayers are on the hook for the damages, no one will spend so much as an hour in jail for violating this man’s rights, and the “law” is still on the books just waiting to be used again.

You’re correct in that the arresting officers only got a private talking-to, if that. But it’s still a win. The preacher got compensated. And perhaps the police will be a bit less fascist next time.
So as I see it, it’s not a huge win. But it’s a win. And it’s particularly noteworthy because a Christian was involved. Too often Christians get slammed for nothing while Muslims who commit real crimes get excused.
Whaddaya bet muzzies in Scotland can profess like here in America, without fear of arrest, “death to the Jews?”
