On Friday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm responded to concerns that emulating some of California’s policies will drive gas prices higher by stating that it’s “less expensive to operate an electric vehicle” and people get tax benefits “if they are able to take it up, and if they’re able to afford a lease.”
After Granholm mentioned that refineries are being converted to biofuels due to policy incentives, co-host Becky Quick said, “[T]o see some of these policies embraced in California where they say we want to be at peak gasoline usage, and, as a result, we’re going to make more and more strict laws that require all of these other things that make it less and less likely for companies to want to invest in the refineries there, what you’ve seen is gas prices are much higher there than anywhere else in the nation — with the exception of potentially Hawaii and Alaska. But what you see are these California prices that are significantly higher. If you see that carried out throughout the rest of the country, you will probably have a very unhappy electorate, because every time they see gasoline prices up $1, they scream.”

Saw the liar on CNBC yesterday. During the whole interview she shilled for EV vehicles. She lied continuously. These assholes have to be stopped.
Oh man. Jan. 20, 2025 the first thing I’d do as POTUS is eliminate all subsidies for that crap. They can sink or swim on their own. The day after the November election all the the big wigs in the industry will have 10 weeks to sell short.

Any time the government pushes anything, you can be sure it will not be good for you, it will cost far more than it should, and the people in government and their friends/cronies will gain both wealth and control over you as a result. This is nothing new.

Is losing Iowa worth the gamble over ethanol? A new administration will have 4 years to get over it if the rest of congress outnumbers the Iowa representation who will have the democrats support. 5 year phaseout is the answer. The rats are not afraid to vote against their constituents. For us I call it doing the right thing. The rats will add abortion to their ethanol defense.
IF I worked at thinking about it hard-—I really do NOT think I have paid over $50,000 for the entire list of vehicles I have owned in past 66 years.
I only had ONE new vehicle-—1965 Pontiac wagon-—paid $3434 out the door with taxes & registration. Put OVER 444,000 miles on it & sold it to a guy in Sweden. Sometimes wish I hadn’t done that.
The car I am current driving cost me $3500 used in 1981.
Have driven it 42 years-—and I am 84...so have driven it for HALF OF MY LIFE.
Paid $4000 for used 1 ton 4 speed dually Chevy truck in 1986.
4 HORSE TRAILER cost me over $10,000 in 2001. ...that is most expensive item of all. 2 horse trailer only cost me $1000 in 1986.
