Without international trade, America might actually be a great nation once again. If nothing else, we’d be forced to grow the hell up for the first time in a hundred years.

Why would the U.S. even care? These aren’t American cargo ships.

Have you noticed empty or partially empty shelves in stores in the locality where you live? That's why. Or, to put it in a more acerbic way, it's the supply chain, stupid.

For what it’s worth, the United States is one of the only countries in the world that has refused to ratify the current U.N. “open seas” treaty.

C’mon, be sensible. If a thug breaks into your neighbor’s house and beats them up, you gonna just sit there and not demand action?

YOu must be a NYC citizen.

Pirates are evil. Like pedos. Just kill them on sight.

1. I haven’t noticed any empty store shelves as of late. In fact, yesterday my local Mennonite-owned grocery store was fully stocked.

2. Let’s step back and seize this opportunity to MASCAA — Make America’s Supply Chains American Again.

I think Biden finally figured out that trading missles for drones is not a winning strategy.

That’s a terrible comparison. Here’s a better one:

If your neighbor’s Amazon delivery is stolen from a truck that’s hijacked in Chicago or Detroit, are you going to go get it back for him?

Also, we are showing how weak we are if we don’t go after those pirates.
The rest of the world sees this, and who knows when a terrorist group decides to go after a cruise ship? Achille Lauro, anyone?

Those Houthi ships need to be taken out with extreme prejudice as soon as they
leave port. I don’t care which country does it.

Sounds like a fiscally rational plan.

It also sounds like we’d be running a protection racket.

Perhaps both statements are already true.... Best wishes.

Obviously the Houthi’s blew up the Nordstream pipeline...a BIT farfetched but more believable than the Russians blowing their own pipeline.

Because free trade of the seas matters. In fact, most ships coming and going from the US are foreign owned.

I wonder how many we plucked out of the sea. Because, “We are the captain now.”

Keeping Sea Lanes open has been a major cause for the US entering conflicts since 1800. Its kind of our thing.

“In 1783, America was protecting AMERICAN shipping interests.”

They still are. It just so happens that the unions killed our merchant fleet so our cargoes travel on lines like Maersk. Maersk is the #1 shipper for the US military and their safety is most assuredly an American interest.

Exactly right, all these little Polly’s running around here pissing their pants about American interventions should just go back and cower in their dark corners.

Do you think they are even American? Most of the clowns sound like the morons in 1939. And then when Pearl Harbor was biombed, they started waving the flag.

My only guess is they are tools of China and/or Russia. They certainly don’t sound Iike they read any book about American History in their lives. Naval power keeping sea lanes open has been a priority since John Paul Jones was on the scene.

Assuming you're telling the truth, then you're fortunate that there are no grocery shortages where you live, but I can assure you it is not the situation in much of the rest of the country.

Where I live in Charlotte, NC, I have to make the rounds of several grocery stores just to find one that has a normally routine item I'm looking for and which all used to carry. Shelves are not necessarily completely empty, but there are long gaps and products are lined up in the front of shelves to hide the bareness behind. We have Walmart, Harris Teeter, Publix and Food Lion in addition to niche grocery stores like Aldi and Trader Joe's. All have at least some gaps in their normally routine product offerings.
