If I remember correctly, there was brief coverage during the Iran-Iraq was of Iran using children to walk across mine fields to save the troops.
I remember that! the parents protested because the kids who hit mines were blown to bits!
So the Ayatollahs had the children wrap themselves in rugs and roll across the mine fields. This way they would not be blown to bits as the rug would hold them together.
