Zelensky makes pitch for US weapons: Politics should not ‘betray the soldier’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday pushed for the U.S. to continue supporting Ukraine, arguing it was vital to stand united against dictatorships and that politics must not “betray the soldier” in the fight for freedom.

Zelensky, speaking at the Pentagon-funded National Defense University in Washington, D.C., in a visit to the Capitol this week, said that American weapons “can get the job done” and defeat Russian forces in Ukraine, asking the U.S. to maintain its support.

“It’s crucial that politics don’t even try to betray [the] soldier, because just like weapons are needed for defense, freedom always requires unity,” he said. “The whole world is watching us, observing [the] destiny of the free nation.”

Nor should it get in the way of Zelensky using US Taxpayer money to buy a yacht. (sarcasm)

It’s a pretty big moment.

There was once a standard reply to big spending programs: “How are you going to pay for it?” That question evolved because it was political and was intended to force the folks proposing the program to specify the taxes that would be raised.

But we have moved past that. There is no longer a presumption that taxes will be raised to pay for it, or anything. The concept is now borrow the money (from China, as Rand Paul says) and spend it.

This is generating disquiet, in both parties.

It’s not just about the weapons...we’re supporting the entire country financially. The war is no longer about the land...it is about ethnic cleansing...part of the proof is closing the churches which the old mostly Russian Ukies attended.

...politics must not “betray the soldier”.

Booschidt. Politicians in America have been betraying the soldiers since The United States became a country and built an Army. Their ROEs have killed more Americans than all of America's enemies put together.

I have no problem with more money for Ukraine if, as the House of Representatives has signaled, it is obtained by reducing billions in Biden’s spending elsewhere.

Prussian General Carl Von Clausewitz ; “War is not an independent phenomenon, but a continuation of politics by other means”.
War and politics by definition are inseparable.
Funding for Ukraine is the same as the J6 ‘insurrection’, a government sting operation designed to deceive the American public.
The Intel Community and Defense Contractors stealing taxpayer money that they could not otherwise obtain.
An illusion with a thin veil of legality.
How many Americans know that Ukraine took the side of the NAZIS during WW2?
They have a sordid and unpleasant history, which the Swamp has gone to great pains to ignore.
Give them nothing.

Mr. Zelensky, I WAS a supporter of yours. I THOUGHT you were a Patriot. But, if news reports are true, YOU have betrayed YOUR soldiers by spending tens of millions of dollars on yourself and family in the form of yachts and houses.

Answer these questions FIRST!

Shame be upon you Sir!

This pos knows his blackmail of Joey is coming to an end. He’ll take whatever he can get by playing the patriot if he absolutely has to.
The bastard will probably sell whatever we give him on the Silk Road.
