Didn’t Calif have a budget surplus just a short time ago????
California pols acted like the federal Covid money would be coming forever and budgeted spending levels upward accordingly. The federal money dried up but the spending levels stayed high.
At first I cringe at the thought of reducing funds for education, but those baseline spending levels may still be highly inflated from the free Covid money.
I suspect they could go back to the pre Covid budget plan and be fine. But they won’t.

Yes, Newsom got his face in front of the cameras to proclaim a surplus. And also said he would give away millions of free dollars to blacks as slave reparations. All to get his smiling face in the news. Black people gonna get pissed at not getting that free money.
