My first guess - mental illness.
Still no victim names, age, or possible relationship to the shooter.
Academia is full of narcissists and nut jobs.
This one happened to have a gun.
My daughter and her husband are in that world. The pettiness and groupthink is just crazy.

Aside from being the same gender, race and age as the 2017 Vegas mass shooter, he is not what you would expect in a Vegas mass shooting.
