You cannot eat Gold, but it is scarce and for centuries it has been treasured. It is just not convenient to make purchases with. But again, a pure digital currency is NOT the SOLUTION. It is path to total enslavement.
Even in the relative "short term" Biden (abbreviation for the regime) could decide to create an EO which would regulate independent crypto currencies to death. Who would stop him? Congress? Scotus? Unless some of the elites own the same crypto currency as you and me, big gov might decide to step on it. Big gov just leaking plans to do so could be devastating.
