If memory serves correct, that is a pretty heavy duty quake.

NOAA US Tsunami Warning System shows potential tsunami threats to Philippines, Palau, Malaysia, and Indonesia. I can’t get them to load/read on my darned phone at the moment.

No threat to AK, HI, CONUS, or BC per a separate announcement.

If memory serves correct, that is a pretty heavy duty quake.

USGS has it as Mercalli intensity VII on the land nearest the epicenter (which was at sea):

VII: Very Strong
Damage is negligible in buildings of good design and construction; but slight to moderate in well-built ordinary structures; damage is considerable in poorly built or badly designed structures; some chimneys are broken. Noticed by motorists.

Note the language about poorly built or designed structures. I’m afraid that may apply to a significant proportion in the affected area :(

Yes, we are good. It was about 190 miles north of us, but we felt it sway the house, for about 30 seconds. My dogs were going bonkers. Within minutes, I heard from friends in Butuan City, very close to the epicenter. They said it was really bad there, and they all had to run outside, due to violent shaking. They didn’t want the house to collapse on them. 👎

Glad you are OK.

I always think about you when I hear of earthquakes, typhoons, or volcanoes.

You live in a very active part of the world.

The swaying stopped. Seemed like only about 15 seconds, where the first one lasted about 30 seconds. There have been a number of aftershocks, but I only felt one of them. This time, my dogs didn’t react to it.

Glad to see (from your post above) that you're okay.

It's funny you mention the dogs' lack of reaction to the aftershocks: I have a memory of an earthquake in Idaho when I was a kid that is rather similar in terms of the animals' reactions:

Main shock:
dogs: barking panic
the cat: freaked out and hid underneath a bed

first aftershock:
dogs: alert, but calm.
the cat: ears swiveling wildly, but didn't budge from his spot in a sunbeam on the ottoman

second aftershock:
the dogs: *no reaction*
the cat: *no reaction*

Talk about adaptable...
