The Justice Department announced today that Allegheny County, Pennsylvania has agreed to offer treatment with any Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved medication for opioid use disorder (OUD) to all individuals booked into the Allegheny County Jail (ACJ) for whom such treatment is medically appropriate. Allegheny County will also pay $10,000 to an individual allegedly denied access to methadone in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The ADA prohibits state and local governments from discriminating against individuals with disabilities and protects people in recovery from OUD, including individuals who are taking OUD medication at the direction of a medical provider.

A drug users dream. Go to jail, get drugs, food, shelter.
Opioid Use Disorder. ROTFL! Is heroin, cocaine and marijuana use a “disorder” too? Clowns.
” Is heroin, cocaine and marijuana use a “disorder” too?”
Yes.
Addiction not disorder. Methadone is a substitute for opioids that “fixes” the addict without the high and the doses are gradually reduced.
Calling addiction a disorder is just another example of what I call stigma reduction. When you reduce the stigma from bad behavior, you are bound to get more bad behavior.
Oh yeah has been since the 90s. Being an Allie is too
Wow. Should've just direct-deposited the $10k into the perp's drug supplier's bank account. That's were the money will wind up once the perp is released.
They should pass a special tax on all Federal Employee’s in the State to pay for Federal edicts.
Ping.
All depends on who and how many have stock in the company that make the drug.
It’s D.C. Jim
Does this mean I can smoke my pipe in jail?
“Does this mean I can smoke my pipe in jail?”
Pipe user disorder? That works. I have Cigar User Disorder and no one will deny me my right under the ADA to smoke in parks and airplanes.
opioid use disorder (OUD) ?!?!?!
I’m going to show this to My Pain Clinic Doc next visit just to see the look on her face...
All drug ingestion will be a disorder that needs to be coddled and supported

“Methadone is a substitute for opioids that “fixes” the addict without the high”
LOL. That is FALSE. My brother, a 30 year heroin addict says Methadone is a ONCE a day opioid that helps the addict because
its effects last longer but YES you can get high from it.
At his worst he was on Methadone which meant he didn’t have to shoot up as often. Saved him money and some dope sickness.
At 68 my brother is a very old addict. He doesn’t use heroin. Still takes painkillers when he can get them.
