Eric Adams’ admin proposes zoning changes to permit casinos in NYC

Mayor Eric Adams’ administration is proposing changes to the zoning law to make it easier for casinos to locate in New York City.

The current zoning law makes no mention of casinos, leaving a state-approved gaming facility in the five boroughs vulnerable to litigation — putting the city at a disadvantage with casinos eyeing sites in the surrounding suburbs, city officials said.

Nassau County already approved a lease for Sands to operate a casino at the Nassau Coliseum site, though it is currently tied up in litigation.

Why not brothels too? Worked so well for Boston as the administrative state types lined up to get screwed, while they screw the American people.

have to wonder.

if NYC’s tourism is SO bad at this point that they believe casinos may be a way to pull in some tourists that might have otherwise gone to Vegas.

This is an example of a bought and paid for zoning change that will benefit the NY Mets owner, Steve Cohen and his $8 billion dollar Casino project surrounding Citi Field. My guess is that Mayor Adams had his pockets filled.

Iowa passed legislation gambling only on riverboats as a nod to history.

Then came legislation to redefine riverboats. (as long as it floated.)

Then came anything goes.....................

Casinos in New York City? Why not? They’re already gambling with their lives, why not gamble with their money?

I suppose there might be some novelty in losing one’s shirt in NYC as opposed to Atlantic City or the other casinos in New England and upstate.
