Muslim colonies have been in The Netherlands so long, probably most of the young men demonstrating were actually born in The Netherlands and have Dutch citizenship.

This is the same problem UK has been having since 9/11—most of their internal terrorists and those who left Britain to join the Taliban during the US/UK engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq were the British-born children of the original immigrants.

Dutch is one language spoken in Holland. Frisian is common (if you're from Friesland), as is Limburgish (if you're from Dutch Lumburg) and Papiamento (if you're from one of Holland's Caribbean holdings).

English is a mandatory subject in secondary schools and. Anybody in Holland who can't read those signs probably is a tourist, a recent immigrant, or just plain illiterate.
