I think Desantis lost fans when he took Trump’s childish gibes lying down. Trump called him “Desanctimonious” and Desantis did what? Ignored him? A lost opportunity imo.
DeSantis LOST fans because he surrounded himself with ALL THE WRONG people the base is DONE with the GOPe who are just as responsible for the demise of this nation as the Dems!! THAT is why DeSantis lost fans, if nothing else Trump has EXPOSED the whole cabal!!
