“Since it’s about heating, one should think BTUs.”

BTU’s of heat ADDED!

For each BTU of gas used, less than one BTU of heat is added to the house.

For each BTU of electricity used, SEVERAL BTU’s of heat are added to the house.

No sir, that is completely incorrect except with a “heat pump,” hardly a common scenario. The in-ground sink/source is the rub, plus extra expense due to lack of market penetration. You’re right about gas though. I’ll figure in 80% efficiency from now on, except for the ventless gas fireplace. That one is about 100%

I do recover some nice heat in cold weather when I think to swap the LED bulbs for incandescent. The filament bulbs are so inefficient making light and 100% efficient making heat. Good combination and the IR and lack of blue light are good for us.
